The short version
Memento has no accounts and no sign-in. Your life list, your reflections, your ratings and your photos are stored on your phone and are never uploaded. We cannot read them, because they never reach us.
A few features do send something over the network — most only at the moment you use them. They are listed below.
What stays on your device
- Everything you add to your life list — titles, categories, dates, steps and notes
- Your reflections, ratings and completion dates
- Photos you attach, kept in the app's own storage rather than your camera roll
- Your birth year and language preference
All of it lives in a database inside the app. Deleting the app deletes it, permanently and with no copy anywhere else.
What leaves your device, and when
1. Suggestions during onboarding, and the Discover chat
When you answer the onboarding questions or chat about what you want to do, the text you typed is sent to our server, which passes it to OpenAI to generate suggestions. We do not store it. If the request fails, the app falls back to a list built into the app and nothing is sent at all.
2. Voice input
If you use the microphone button instead of typing, the recording is uploaded to our server and passed to OpenAI to be transcribed. Only the transcribed text comes back, and the recording is not kept by us.
3. The Stories feed
The Stories tab downloads a curated feed we write and publish. It is the same feed for everyone; the request sends nothing about you or your list. Nobody can post to it. Its photographs are served by Unsplash, so loading them makes your device's IP address visible to Unsplash in the ordinary way any image on the web does.
Reporting a story sends us a message the same way Contact does (below): the story's id, the reason you chose and the story's text, nothing about you. Hiding a story is remembered on your device only.
4. A message you send from Contact
A message you write in Contact is saved on your device first and then emailed to us, so that writing one without a connection does not lose it — it waits on your device and goes out the next time you open Contact online. The email carries your subject, your message and the date you wrote it. It carries no address for you, because the app has never asked for one: to get a reply, put a way to reach you in the message itself.
Delivery goes through Resend, an email service, which handles the message in the course of sending it. Your copy stays on your device either way.
5. Usage analytics and crash reports
The app records how it is used — which onboarding step was reached, which tab was opened, that an item was created or completed — and, if it crashes, a technical report of what went wrong (the error, the device model, the OS version). Usage events are processed by PostHog and crash reports by Sentry, both acting on our behalf. A randomly generated identifier ties one install's events together so we can see where journeys stall; it is not connected to your name — the app has never asked for one — and your list, reflections and photos are never part of any of it.
With no network connection, or with the app pointed at no server, all of these degrade to on-device behaviour rather than failing — usage events and crash reports may simply be dropped.
What we never collect
- No account, email address, name or phone number — there is nothing to sign in to
- No advertising identifiers, and no advertising
- Nothing you wrote — your list, reflections and photos are never part of analytics or crash reports
- No location, contacts, calendar or health data
- No access to your camera roll beyond the photos you explicitly pick
- Nothing is sold or shared with data brokers, because nothing is collected to sell
Third parties
OpenAI processes the text and audio described above in order to answer. Under OpenAI's API data usage policy, content sent through the API is not used to train their models, and is retained only briefly for abuse monitoring.
Resend delivers the emails from Contact, and so handles a message you send that way.
PostHog processes the usage events described above on our behalf.
Sentry receives crash reports so we can fix what broke.
Vercel hosts our server and therefore handles the requests in transit, including the IP address every internet request necessarily carries.
Server logs and IP addresses
Our server counts recent requests per IP address, in memory only, to stop one caller from exhausting the service for everyone. Those counts are never written to disk and disappear when the server process does. Our hosting keeps short-lived operational logs — status codes, timing and error messages — as part of running the service.
Deleting your data
Delete an entry in the app to remove it. Delete the app to remove all of it at once. There is no account to close and no server-side copy of your list to request, export or erase. The one exception is a message you chose to send from Contact: like any email, it is in an inbox once delivered. Ask at the address below and it will be deleted.
Children
Memento is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect anything from them.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the effective date at the top changes with it and the new version appears here.

端末から送信されるもの
1. オンボーディングの提案と Discover チャット
質問への回答やチャットで入力したテキストは、当方のサーバーを経由して OpenAI に送られ、提案の生成に使われます。 当方では保存しません。通信に失敗した場合はアプリ内蔵のリストで代替され、何も送信されません。
2. 音声入力
マイクボタンを使った場合、録音は当方のサーバーにアップロードされ、OpenAI に渡されて文字起こしされます。 返ってくるのは文字起こし結果のみで、録音を当方が保持することはありません。
3. ストーリー フィード
ストーリー タブは当方が執筆・公開しているキュレーション済みフィードを取得します。内容は全員に共通で、 あなたやあなたのリストに関する情報は一切送信しません。誰も投稿することはできません。掲載写真は Unsplash から配信されるため、 ウェブ上の画像一般と同様に、端末の IP アドレスが Unsplash 側から見える状態になります。
ストーリーを報告すると、お問い合わせ（後述）と同じ仕組みで当方にメッセージが送られます。 含まれるのはストーリーの ID、選んだ理由、ストーリーの本文のみで、あなたに関する情報は含まれません。 非表示にしたストーリーは端末内でのみ記憶されます。
4. お問い合わせで送信したメッセージ
お問い合わせに書いた内容は、まず端末に保存され、そのうえでメールとして当方に送信されます。 接続がない場所で書いても失われないようにするためで、端末内で待機し、次にオンラインでお問い合わせを開いたときに送信されます。 メールに含まれるのは件名・本文・作成日のみです。あなたの連絡先は含まれません —— アプリが一度も尋ねていないためです。返信が必要な場合は、本文に連絡方法をお書きください。
配信にはメール配信サービス Resend を利用しており、送信の過程でメッセージを取り扱います。 いずれの場合も、あなたの端末内の控えはそのまま残ります。
5. 利用状況の分析とクラッシュレポート
アプリは使われ方を記録します — オンボーディングのどの段階に到達したか、どのタブを開いたか、項目を作成・達成したか、というものです。 また、アプリがクラッシュした場合は、何が起きたかの技術的なレポート（エラー内容、端末モデル、OS のバージョン）を送信します。利用イベントは PostHog、クラッシュレポートは Sentry が当方に代わって処理します。 ランダムに生成された識別子が同じ端末のイベントをつなぎ、どこで操作が止まるかを見られるようにしますが、 この識別子があなたの氏名と結び付くことはなく（アプリは氏名を一度も尋ねません）、 リスト・振り返り・写真の内容がこれらに含まれることもありません。
オフライン時やサーバー未設定時は、いずれも失敗ではなく端末内の動作に切り替わります。利用イベントやクラッシュレポートは単に破棄されることがあります。
収集しないもの
- アカウント、メールアドレス、氏名、電話番号 — ログインする対象自体がありません
- 広告 ID および広告そのもの
- あなたが書いたもの — リスト・振り返り・写真の内容が、分析やクラッシュレポートに含まれることはありません
- 位置情報、連絡先、カレンダー、健康データ
- あなたが明示的に選んだ写真以外のカメラロールへのアクセス
- データの販売や情報仲介業者への提供（そもそも収集していません）
第三者
OpenAI は上記のテキストと音声を応答生成のために処理します。OpenAI の API データ利用ポリシーにより、API 経由で送られた内容がモデルの学習に使われることはなく、 不正利用の監視のために短期間保持されるのみです。
Resend はお問い合わせのメールを配信するため、その方法で送られたメッセージを取り扱います。
PostHog は上記の利用イベントを当方に代わって処理します。
Sentry はクラッシュレポートを受け取り、不具合の修正に役立てます。
Vercel は当方のサーバーをホストしており、通信の経路上でリクエストを扱います。 これにはインターネット通信に必然的に伴う IP アドレスが含まれます。
サーバーのログと IP アドレス
当方のサーバーは、一人の利用者がサービスを占有しないよう、IP アドレスごとの直近のリクエスト数をメモリ上でのみ数えています。 この数値はディスクに書き出されず、サーバープロセスの終了とともに消えます。 ホスティング側では、サービス運用の一環としてステータスコード・処理時間・エラーメッセージの短期ログが保持されます。
データの削除
個別の項目はアプリ内で削除できます。アプリを削除すればすべてが一度に消えます。 解約すべきアカウントはなく、あなたのリストのサーバー側の複製も存在しないため、開示・持ち出し・削除を請求する対象もありません。 唯一の例外は、お問い合わせから送信を選んだメッセージです。通常のメールと同様、配信後は受信箱に残ります。 下記のアドレスにご連絡いただければ削除します。
お子様について
Memento は13歳未満のお子様を対象としておらず、意図的に情報を収集することはありません。
変更について
本ポリシーに重要な変更があった場合は、冒頭の発効日を更新し、新しい内容をこのページに掲載します。
